Rule
Use the present simple for habits, facts, routines and repeated actions.
Examples
I live in London. She studies every evening. The test starts at 9 am.
Common mistake
Do not use the present continuous for permanent facts: say “I live near the centre”, not “I am living near the centre” unless it is temporary.
Quick practice
- Write three true sentences about yourself.
- Turn one sentence into a question.
- Give one answer aloud using the same tense.
